Bio:
Delphine Lui, M.D. has been the Associate Medical Imaging Director at Winchester Hospital’s Breast Care Center since 2001. She arrived at Winchester Hospital in 1999 with a mission to build a new multi-disciplinary Breast Care Center with her clinical colleagues. She subsequently collaborated with her colleagues and the Winchester Hospital administration to build a successful and wellregarded patient-oriented comprehensive breast center. The mission of Winchester Hospital’s Breast Care Center is to pursue early detection of breast cancer, and to deliver the best state-of-the-art comprehensive care to patients with breast disease.
Following her arrival at Winchester Hospital, Dr. Lui established the Stereotactic breast biopsy program in 2001, and concurrently developed the Ultrasound breast biopsy program to its current mature state. She established the breast MRI program in 2007, which includes MRI breast biopsy. Through the years, she has successfully overseen the transition into digital mammography, and the incorporation of Breast Tomosynthesis into routine practice. Most recently in 2024, she has introduced Contrast-Enhanced Mammography into clinical practice. She is a progressive thinker and embraces incorporating new and successful technologies into practice, and looks forward to AI integration into Breast Imaging. She has provided and continues to provide physician, staff and community education, and maintains myriad administrative and promotional duties.
Dr. Lui pursues a standard of excellence in the Breast Imaging department that is recognized by patients and colleagues, as well as professional medical societies. Under her oversight, the Breast Imaging section of the Breast Care Center was honored in July 2008 with the American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation (BICOE). Since that time, the BCC has maintained this accreditation consistently, which is now called an ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center. This highest level of certification is awarded to centers that maintain the highest standards for ACR accreditation in mammography, breast US and breast US-guided biopsy, and stereotactic biopsy. The Breast MRI program has similarly been consistently accredited by the ACR for maintaining the highest imaging standards, collaborating with Shields MRI at Winchester Hospital.
The Breast Center is also distinguished by accreditation by the American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), first earned in 2011, and maintained consistently since that time.
Dr. Lui was accepted from high school into a 7-year medical program sponsored by SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn and Brooklyn College. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brooklyn College in 1987, and Magna Cum Laude from SUNY-Downstate in 1991. She was accepted into Alpha Omega Alpha in 1990. Dr. Lui completed her radiology residency at Boston Medical Center, 1992-1996. She then went on to complete two fellowships following graduating from residency. She completed her first fellowship in Body Imaging (CT, MRI, and US) at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, 1996-1997. She then completed a Breast Imaging fellowship at Faulkner Hospital’s Sagoff Breast Center 1997-1998, now part of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Following this, she was in charge of developing the breast imaging section at Quincy Hospital 1998-1999. In 1999, she joined Winchester Hospital’s radiology practice, and was an integral member of the founding team assigned to create the new collaborative multidisciplinary Breast Care Center. She has continued as Associate Medical Imaging Director at the Breast Care Center since that time. In addition, Dr. Lui is partner in the Northshore Radiological Associates, Inc. group radiology practice, and maintains skills in body and musculoskeletal MRI; emergency, outpatient and inpatient imaging, including CT, US, PET-CT, and plain film imaging.
Dr. Lui is passionate about her role in patient care, and she appreciates the pivotal nature of imaging in patient management and the profound effect of imaging on the actual patient. She is motivated by knowing that her role in imaging can help people avoid serious illness through early detection, and can significantly improve a person’s chance for survival, so that they can return to normal lives.
Aside from work, she is happily married, a proud mother of two, enjoys world travel and physical fitness, pursues Kenpo Karate martial arts training, enjoys being a home chef, reading.
